BUYING

My minimum BUYING price for UM missing colour errors (excl. SG 981a) is now £40

I have an increasing need to purchase selected items in the field of Great Britain QEII Errors and Varieties.

I will not make claims to purchase all material offered. However for items I particularly require I anticipate that my offer is likely to exceed most others. I deal almost exclusively in Errors and Varieties and will put my knowledge to work in your favour. Many have been surprised at offers I have made. I often buy direct from sellers at more than auction realisations.

Vendors should note that once auction houses have have added their premium and other fees they may actually receive as little as 65% of the actual price realised.

An true example of how it would have been better to sell direct to me

My current  (September 06) buying price for SG 820a is £160

Item SG 820a sold at auction  (Bonhams September 06 lot 1193) for hammer price £130.

The seller commission is 15% + VAT.   Insurance fee 1.5% / lot.

The vendor therefore received £105  after commission and fees   (This is 67% of total price realised after commission)

I purchased the above item at the auction and paid a total after commission of £156.73.

Had the vendor sold direct to me he / she would have received £160 or £55 more than actually achieved.

It could be to your significant advantage to request my offer before selling elsewhere.

Procedure if you have items you may wish to sell

I am particularly keen on positional pieces such as cylinder and traffic light blocks and will pay a premium (often very significantly) over pro rata rates.

I am also keen to purchase missing colours on first day cover. Although condition is important (date must be legible and stamps not damaged)  plain covers with hand written addresses are of interest.
